Town Crier: Labor for Black Lives Responds to Rep. Evans’ Call for Ceasefire

“It is time to put an end to the senseless violence that has now claimed the lives of over 30,000 Gazans. – Wendell Royster (Co-Founder)

(Philadelphia) – The Philadelphia Labor for Black Lives Coalition, applauds Congressman Dwight Evans for joining colleagues Representatives Lee, Dean, and Scanlon in the call for an immediate ceasefire in the war on Gaza.

The Philadelphia Labor for Black Lives Coalition (LB4BL) – a coalition representing over 25 local unions throughout the Philadelphia area, has been engaging in a series of legislative visits to Pennsylvania congressional delegation members including Congressman Evans to demand our federal government call for a ceasefire.

“This moment illustrates the growing movement for peace that has united politicians, labor, and community organizations across Philadelphia. Since our first talks about taking a stand for this issue we have partnered alongside our brothers and sisters at the Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance (APALA), Jewish Voices for Peace (JVP), and POWER Interfaith. Through our solidarity we continue to build power in our demand to stop the killing in Gaza.” – Wendell Royster (Co-founder, LB4BL)

The coalition is calling on the rest of the Pennsylvania congressional delegation, especially Representative Brendan Boyle to join our call for a ceasefire and challenge Philadelphia City Council to issue a resolution doing the same. “It is time to put an end to the senseless violence that has now claimed the lives of over 30,000 Gazans.” – Wendell Royster.
