Father Judge Upsets Imhotep Charter in Home Playoff Victory, 69-58, to Win Season Series—Sets Up State Final Showdown with Roman Catholic
In a thrilling display of grit, growth, and redemption, the Father Judge Crusaders knocked off Imhotep Charter 69-58 on Saturday, March 22nd, in a high-stakes home playoff battle. Not only did the win punch their ticket deeper into the postseason—it also marked the third and most crucial meeting between the two Philadelphia powerhouses this season.
The season series between these rivals had been a nail-biter from the start:
December 14, 2024: Imhotep edged out a 53-51 victory in a defensive slugfest.
February 28, 2025: Father Judge responded, gutting out a 58-54 win on the road.
March 22, 2025 (Playoffs): Father Judge rises again—this time with authority—taking down Imhotep 69-58 in front of a fired-up home crowd.
Saturday’s performance highlighted what Father Judge has done best all season: consistent scoring and relentless defense. On average, the Crusaders have posted 17.1 points in the first quarter, 17.8 in the second, 17.7 in the third, and 18.4 in the fourth, for a season scoring average of 70.7 points per game. Imhotep, no slouch offensively, averages 65.8 points per game, but couldn’t keep pace with Father Judge’s steady attack.
The fourth quarter—where Father Judge typically excels—was once again the difference-maker. As Imhotep attempted to rally, the Crusaders maintained their composure, executed on both ends, and sealed the win at the free-throw line.
This game wasn’t just about a playoff win. It was about the evolution of a team, the importance of resilience, and the reward of hard work. After dropping the first game of the series by just two points in December, Father Judge rebounded with two impressive wins when it mattered most.
Now, with the season series in hand and the city’s attention firmly on them, the Crusaders are headed to Hershey, Pennsylvania, for the state championship game—where they’ll face another familiar Philadelphia rival: Roman Catholic. The Cahillites, a dominant force in their own right, will be looking to claim yet another title, but Father Judge has momentum, belief, and the city behind them.
A battle for the state crown awaits—and the Palestra energy is heading to Hershey.
