Jayden Horton-Mims Blazes to 400m National Title at Nike HS Nationals

Jayden Horton-Mims delivered yet another electrifying performance at the Nike High School National Championship, held at the New York Armory. The Texas standout clocked an impressive 46.65 seconds in the 400m final, securing back-to-back national titles. His time marked an improvement over his 2024 winning time of 46.85, reinforcing his dominance in the event.

The race featured an elite field, but Horton-Mims surged ahead in the final 100 meters, pulling away from a stacked lineup that included Kendrick Jones Jr. of Temple, Texas, who finished in 46.77 seconds, earning the #7 U.S. ranking for 2025. Keayari Thompson from TakeOff TC in Georgia was close behind at 46.81 seconds, securing the #8 national ranking. Jordan Riggs of H-Town Hurricanes TC, Texas, rounded out the top competitors with a 46.85-second finish.

A Stellar 2025 Season So Far

Horton-Mims has been on a tear this season, putting up elite-level performances across multiple sprint events. At the Millrose Games on February 8, 2025, he tied the national high school record in the 300 meters, clocking a remarkable 32.64 seconds. His dominance continued in the 400 meters, winning at The CIRCUIT Philly meet on March 1, 2025, with a time of 46.77 seconds. Earlier in the indoor season, he set a personal best of 21.06 seconds in the 200 meters, further solidifying his place among the top sprinters in the country.
