Philly’s own Jayden Horton-Mims put on a show at The CIRCUIT Philly meet on March 1, 2025, held at the UPenn Ott Center. Racing in front of a hometown crowd, the standout sprinter dominated both the 200m and 400m, proving once again why he’s one of the top high school sprinters in the country.
Big Wins on the Track
400 Meters – Horton-Mims took first place in 46.77 seconds, marking a season-best and the fifth-fastest time in the nation.
200 Meters – He claimed another victory with a time of 21.06 seconds, adding to his impressive resume.
Record-Tying Indoor Season
Horton-Mims has been on fire all winter. At the 2025 Millrose Games, he tied the national high school indoor record for the 300 meters, clocking 32.64 seconds, a mark originally set by Brian Herron in 2018.
“It felt great breaking the 300m record—I wanted that record for so long,” he said.
Flashback to 2024: Outdoor Dominance
This isn’t new territory for Horton-Mims. Last outdoor season, he showed why he’s a force to be reckoned with:
400 Meters – He won the Nike Indoor Nationals 400m title with a personal best of 46.85 seconds, then lowered his outdoor PR to 45.82 seconds at the East Coast International Showcase.
200 Meters – He clocked a personal best of 20.57 seconds, making him one of the fastest high school sprinters in the country.
Hometown Pride & What’s Next
Racing in Philly gave Horton-Mims an extra boost.
“It felt good to run fast at home and put on for the city,” he said.
As he sets his sights on the rest of the season, he’s focused on the details.
“Training has been great this year. I’ve been working on my arms, my start, and my finish. I’m looking forward to dropping my times even more and winning nationals.”
With outdoor season heating up, expect to see his name at the top of national rankings. Horton-Mims is just getting started.
