Martin Luther King High School’s head football coach, Malik Jones, has been selected to the coaching staff for the 2025 Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association (PSFCA) East-West All-Star Game (Big Schools). Jones will serve as the Defensive Coordinator for the East team, making him the only District 12 coach named to the staff.

The PSFCA East-West All-Star Game was established in 2001 to provide more high school athletes an opportunity to showcase their talents on a grand stage. This year’s game, presented by Titan Threadz, will feature some of the top football talent from across Pennsylvania.

“We are thrilled to announce this year’s Titan Threadz East vs West All-Star rosters,” said PSFCA Associate Executive Director Josh Oswalt. “This year’s teams feature exceptional athletes from across the state, each showcasing incredible talent and achievements in their high school careers. We’re proud to celebrate these outstanding players and top-tier coaches selected to lead them in this year’s games, along with our talented cheer squads.”

Jones, who has been a transformative leader at Martin Luther King High School, expressed his gratitude and excitement for the opportunity to coach at the state level.

“I can’t say I saw this coming, but I am blessed to serve on the East staff of the Big School Pennsylvania East/West All-Star Football game. I will actually serve as Defensive Coordinator, so my work is cut out for me. I can remember the days of being a huge fan of the Philadelphia City All-Star game as a public school student, now I have coached that game twice. I never could’ve imagined being on the state level, much less in a leadership role. This is truly a blessing, and an example that a kid from humble beginnings can change his stars.”

Several standout Philadelphia athletes have also been selected for the game, representing some of the city’s top high school programs:

Mick Johnson – Bonner-Prendergast

Alijah Turner – St. Joseph’s Prep

Bleek Turner – St. Joseph’s Prep

Shawn Stratz – St. Joseph’s Prep

Kasir Wright – Imhotep Charter

Zahir Mathis – Imhotep Charter

Jaasai Simmons – Roman Catholic

Christopher Blocker – Abraham Lincoln

Dymere Durham – Abraham Lincoln

The Big School (4A-6A) East-West All-Star Game will take place on Sunday, May 18th, at Cumberland Valley’s Chapman Field, with kickoff scheduled for 5 PM.

Jones’ appointment as Defensive Coordinator not only highlights his coaching expertise but also underscores the rising prominence of Philadelphia-area coaches on the state’s football stage. His journey serves as an inspiration to young athletes and aspiring coaches alike, proving that dedication and perseverance can lead to remarkable opportunities.
