King defeated the visiting Belmont Tigers as both teams opened up the new season at Benjamin L Johnson Stadium
The final score was 30-14 an excellent win for Coach Malik Jones and his Cougar team on this young season.
The game started with a defense stand that saw the Cougars take advantage of a young sometimes overpowered O-Line of Belmont
The first score came when Daimler Bobo-Brown (5’9 185,RB/LB) tunneled his way into the end zone
The play of Isaiah Robinson (5’9 165, RB/S) can not be ignored as he dashed the Tiger secondary for run after run on the open scoring drive for the cougars
Add in QB #17 Abdal Bin-Habib and the rushing attack for the Cougars were on fire a few untimely penalties kept the game even 6-6 at halftime
Credit to the coaching staff because in the second the Cougar defense stood up to play
Bobbo Brown, and Shafi Reed (6,2 185, WR/DB) who is also a standout in Track and Field attending the High School Nationals and finished as one of the fastest in the state lead a lethal defensive attack for the purple and gold
The young season saw the Cougars dominate and eventually walk away with a multiple touchdown victory over the Tigers of Belmont Charter
The roster for the Cougars is full of young talent and they look to have a chance at a deep run this season but will need the youth in the team to grow quickly and develop
A special Shoutout to at Makhai Robinson who made a number of key plays and even scored on an amazing catch and run but was called back by a penalty -AB11
I think this young man will surprise a lot of opponents this season and could be a player to watch as he is only in the Class of 2025.
